Motivated by her recent Player of the Month award, Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC goalkeeper Josephine Nambuya is determined to continue her strong start to the season by securing more clean sheets to help her team defend the FUFA Women Super League title.
"It feels good to be recognized and rewarded for your hard work. This award has inspired me to work even harder, keep more clean sheets, and most importantly, help my team defend our league title,” Nambuya shared earlier this week after being named Player of the Month for October by league sponsors.
During October, Nambuya’s efforts were key for Kawempe Muslim Ladies, who played four matches and won all of them without conceding a single goal.
Nambuya held firm in goal, keeping four clean sheets in victories against Rines SS (3-0), Wakiso Hill (3-0), Maroons (1-0), and Makerere (1-0).
Kawempe head coach Ayub Khalifah Kyingi was also honored as Coach of the Month for guiding his team to a strong start in their title defense campaign.
Kawempe will return to action on Sunday with a home game against Lady Doves at Kawempe Valley Grounds, aiming to extend their unbeaten run to six games.
After a 1-1 draw against Amus College in Bukedea last week, they will also be looking to return to winning form against the Doves.
Meanwhile, Kampala Queens’ newly appointed head coach, Asefa Firew Hailegebreal, will face his first challenge in the FUFA Women Super League when they host Amus College at the Philip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
Kawempe, the defending champions, currently top the 12-team table with 13 points from five matches. Kampala Queens follow in second place with nine points, while Amus, Lady Doves, and Maroons are in third, fourth, and fifth positions, each with eight points.
