Fauzia Najjemba, star forward for the Crested Cranes (Uganda’s senior women’s football team), has taken a major step in her career after signing a two‑year deal with Boston Legacy WFC, a newly established franchise in the American National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).

The 22‑year‑old attacking talent joins a side preparing for its maiden NWSL campaign, with her arrival seen as a significant coup for Boston Legacy as they aim to make an impact in their inaugural season.

Najjemba parted ways with Russian giants Dynamo Moscow at the end of her contract, bringing with her a wealth of international experience and a distinctive African flair. Her football journey began at Mukono High School, before progressing through Isra Soccer Academy and Kampala Queens in Uganda. She later featured for BIIK Kazygurt in Kazakhstan and Dynamo Moscow.

On the international stage, Najjemba has consistently impressed, representing Uganda at both U‑20 and senior levels, most notably during the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Her move to the NWSL is historic, making her only the second Ugandan player to feature in the league, following Shadia Nankya, who signed with Washington Spirit last year before being loaned to Dallas Trinity FC in the USL Super League.

“I am absolutely thrilled to join the Boston Legacy family,” Najjemba said after finalizing her move. “I am deeply grateful for this opportunity and eager to give my all for the team. I am proud to wear the Boston colors and can’t wait to get started.”

Founded in 2023, Boston Legacy WFC is building a competitive squad for its debut season. Najjemba’s signing highlights the club’s ambition to establish itself quickly among the NWSL’s elite.
