Lugazi Appoints Oliver Mbekeka as Assistant Coach

Mbekeka, a former player and coach of the Crested Cranes - Uganda women's national team, will work alongside head coach Sadiq Sempigi to enhance the team's performance in their debut season in the top flight.

Lugazi FC, the newly promoted Uganda Premier League (UPL) side has strengthened its technical team with the appointment of Oliver Mbekeka as assistant coach.

“Lugazi FC is pleased to announce the appointment of Oliver Mbekeka as the assistant coach,” the club announced.

Mbekeka, a former player and coach of the Crested Cranes - Uganda women's national team, will work alongside head coach Sadiq Sempigi to enhance the team's performance in their debut season in the top flight.

The appointment is part of the club's commitment to building a capable coaching team to ensure competitive performance at the highest level of Ugandan football.

Her experience in managing teams such as the Uganda U-20 women's national team and Lady Doves FC makes her a valuable addition to the coaching staff.

The club's Chairman, Hajji Abdul Kawuulu, expressed his delight at the appointment of Oliver Mbekeka as assistant coach, believing she will significantly enhance the team's performance in the League.

"The appointment of Oliver Mbekeka as assistant coach underscores our dedication to strengthening our technical team," Kawuulu stated.

 "We are confident that under the leadership of Coach Sempigi and the support of Mbekeka, Lugazi will achieve great success in the UPL."

The technical staff now includes Head Coach Sadiq Sempigi, First Assistant Olive Mbekeka, Second Assistant Gerald Efiti, Goalkeepers Coach Adam Kizza Katongole, Physiotherapist Solomon Tayomba, and Team Manager Khasim Ssekirime.

The club has also unveiled four new players, including Emmanuel Obua, Denis Lubowa, Saaka Sharif Yusuf, Nelson Mandela, and Rogers Adriko, with many more expected to join in the ongoing transfer window.

Their promotion to the UPL follows a 2-0 home win over Kaaro Karungi football club in the betPawa FUFA Big League 2023-2024 season at their stadium in Najjemba, Mabira.
