Masaka Giants Ludo Club won their maiden Super League trophy on Sunday after defeating Nansana All Stars 4-0 at Grenkhad Country Gardens in Nansana.

In addition to winning the title, Masaka Giants walked away with a cash prize of sh2.5m, Ntinda United received sh1.0m and Kazo Hill received sh0.5m.

Masaka Giants manager Ham Ndawula said the players' consistency and the talent of their new signing Abdallah Aziz from Bweyogerere LC helped them beat their biggest rivals Ntinda United, Kazo Hill and Bulemeezi.

“We also have a good squad with five national seeded players. We are now going to prepare for the Continental Club Championship. Our target is also to travel back to our home ground in Kinoni Masaka, now that our sponsors and fans are motivated,” noted Ndawula.

“We will also be the first team to defend the title as Masaka Giants is the only team with an academy,” added Ndawula.

The Uganda Ludo Federation president, Hussein Kalule, commended the league owners for reintroducing the home and away format this year.

“I assure the winners that they will be funded by the government to go for international engagements starting with the Africa Club Championships,” he noted.

Former champion, Nakawa Market finished in position seven.
