KAMPALA - Uganda international midfielder Joan Nabirye has signed a two-year contract with Russian Women Super League side Spartak Moscow.
"I am happy to be joining a team in one of the most competitive leagues. I will do my best to help Spartak Moscow win trophies at national and international level," said Nabirye.
The midfielder featured for FK Minsk in Belarus last season before her contract ran out and she became a free agent.
Nabirye has also played for Vihiga Queens FC in Kenya, winning two Kenya Women Premier League titles and helping the team win the 2022 Zonal CECAFA/CAF Women's Champions League qualifier.
She also played for Uganda at the 2022 Africa Women's Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Nabirye becomes the second Ugandan to join a Russian Women Super League side, with Fauzia Najjemba having signed for Dynamo Moscow.
Uganda also has female players featuring for teams in the USA, Sweden, Tanzania, Italy, India, Cyprus, and Belarus.
