Mengo and Mpoma Girls shine as 600 players grace 16th ICPAU Woodball Championship

The 17th edition of the Institute of Certified Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) Youth and Junior Woodball Championship will be bigger and better organised.
Uganda Woodball Federation (UWbF) president Paul Mark Kayongo made the promise in his appreciation speech at the awards ceremony of the 16th edition, held at Kyambogo University Peace Ground on Saturday.
"We are humbled to see that the number of participants continues to increase year by year. This is a good sign that woodball is growing, and we should thank our sponsors ICPAU, who have supported woodball for 16 years," Kayongo said.

"We want to thank ICPAU for giving back to the community. Sponsoring this junior championship for 16 years is a true reflection of how ICPAU is truly committed to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). We cannot take you for granted as we continue improving our organisation and growing the sport better," Kayongo added.
This year's edition attracted close to 600 participants, 200 more than last year's 400.
The one-day event, sponsored by ICPAU, was won by Mpoma Girls, who collected 243 strokes. They were followed by St. Mark Namagoma (247 strokes), while Mengo Secondary School came third with 253 strokes in the girls' category. In the boys' category, Mengo Secondary School emerged champions.

In the primary schools boys' category, Busukuma Church of Uganda Primary School emerged winners, with Santa Maria Junior School and Simple Mummy Junior School Kawoko coming second and third respectively.
