KCCA FC co-head coach Jackson Magera believes the momentum his side has built gives them the perfect platform as they prepare to face URA FC on Friday (November 21) at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
Magera said URA are always a difficult side, but his players will approach the match with courage and teamwork as they aim to stay at the top of the Uganda Premier League table.
“URA is always a tough team to play, yes, but our team is in good rhythm. We are working well together and every player is fighting for the badge. We want to carry that mentality into this game and stay on top,” he said.
He added that the team must avoid errors and make use of their opportunities.
“We must believe that we can play well and get a result. We prepared well tactically and mentally. We need to reduce mistakes, play with responsibility, and take our chances on the day,” Magera explained.
KCCA are second on the table with 11 points from three wins, two draws and one loss in six matches. Their last outing ended in a 1–0 defeat to Vipers after Allan Okello scored the only goal for the Kitende-based side.
URA, meanwhile, sit eighth with eight points from one win and five draws. They drew goalless with Maroons in their most recent match.
The Kasasiro Boys will be hoping to return to winning ways and keep pressure on the top.
In Hoima, debutants Buhimba United Saints will host Mbarara City at Royal Park, Butema.
Buhimba are coming off a heavy 5–2 loss to Lugazi, which marked their third straight defeat after a strong start to the season. They have conceded 11 goals in their last three matches and dropped to sixth place with nine points.
Mbarara City are second from bottom with only two points from six matches and are still searching for their first win of the season. Their most recent match ended in a 4–1 loss to Express.
Following poor results, the club parted ways with head coach Simon Peter Mugerwa and his entire technical team. A caretaker coach is yet to be announced.
On Wednesday (November 19), Police FC continued their strong start with a 2–0 win over Entebbe UPPC to remain top with 14 points.
Newly promoted Calvary FC continue to struggle after losing 1–0 to UPDF FC, leaving them bottom with one point.
