Money bags, Brawn Boxing Club (BC) made another solid performance at this year’s national Intermediates championship, going toe to toe with traditional giants Lukanga, UPDF and COBAP before leaving them with a bloody nose.

It is another solid performance from the new entrants Brawn BC that finished third and fifth during their debut appearance at both last year’s national open championship and national novices respectively.

The 2026 national Intermediates championship boxed off on March 22 before climaxing on Saturday March 28 at Kamwokya’s TLC Arena.

The championship attracted over 700 boxers plotting to punch their way at this year’s national open boxing championship as well as the UBF boxing champions league.

While Lukanga BC defended their overall title in commanding fashion just like they have done in previous national events, Brawn BC made the headlines once again finishing fourth overall ahead of giants Kololo BC, KCCA BC, Police BC, Zebra BC and others.

Remarkably, this achievement comes in only Brawn BC’s second year as a fully recognized club under the Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF).

The Kulambiro based club, owned by Bunyoro kingdom’s prince Kenny Rogers Kamulasi and the Ebonies actress Laura Ndagire went on the final day of the championship in second before slipping to fourth with 28 points.

Lukanga BC swept all the categories to emerge overall champions with 100 points followed by UPDF on 30 points with COBAP finishing third on 29.

Brawn BC’s performance at this year’s national Intermediates Championship reaffirmed their status as one of the fastest-rising forces in Ugandan boxing and a club that has come to awaken the sleeping giants.

Their strongest threat came in the Juniors category, where they left a bloody nose and black eye to Lukanga BC, finishing second with 16 points compared to Lukanga’s 36.

In the Elite category, Brawn BC finished fourth with 12 points. Lukanga BC again led the pack with 33 points, followed by UPDF BC (21) and Police BC (15).

According to Kamulasi their ambition is to dethrone the Lukanga BC’s dictatorship as they plot to win silverware.

“Everyone knows that the way Sam Lukanga, the Lukanga BC’s owner, is obsessed with winning is like the way the Jews love Jerusalem. But we are ready to end this very soon. Kamulasi told Vision Sport.

“We have laid our plan well and are ready to execute it. Once this is done, trust we are going to end ‘Dictator Lukanga’s dominance”.

The final had in attendance UBF president Moses Muhangi, his great friend, Robert Jjaggwe the former Uganda table tennis federation president, Musician Navio a great fan of boxing among others.
