Kyaggwe Football Club is facing possible disciplinary action, including the loss of points and goals, following a disturbing incident involving their supporters during Sunday’s Masaza Cup clash against Butambala FC.
The match, held at Mukono Bishop SS playground, ended in a 1–1 draw on Matchday Four of the tournament.
Kyaggwe took the lead in the first half through wing attacker Calvin Peter Emayo. Despite dominating for much of the game, they conceded a late equaliser via a penalty kick, which triggered outrage among Kyaggwe fans who deemed the decision unjust.
After the final whistle, the situation spiraled out of control as a group of Kyaggwe supporters stormed the pitch and physically attacked match official Edward Ssekajjugo.

The referee was subjected to kicks, slaps, and blows, with objects hurled at him. Security personnel at the venue attempted to intervene but were overwhelmed due to limited manpower and the absence of police officers.Without access to dispersal measures such as tear gas, marshals struggled to restore order, allowing the chaos to unfold unchecked.
Masaza Cup organizing committee chairperson Haji Sulaiman Ssejjengo stated that disciplinary proceedings will await the referee’s report. Based on its findings, the committee will determine the appropriate sanctions for Kyaggwe FC and their fans.
Tournament regulations allow for deductions of two points and two goals if fans invade the pitch during, before, or after a match, in addition to other penalties.
Despite the incident, Kyaggwe FC currently tops the Muganzirwazza group with 8 points, followed by Ssingo FC (6 points), Kabula FC and Mawogola FC (4 points each), and Butambala FC with 3 points.
