Japanese golfer Hisae Koshiba will choose between flying to South Africa or Kenya after she topped the Lady Captain’s Prize Golf Tournament at Kitante on Saturday.

Playing off handicap 27, Koshiba carded 69nett to beat a strong field of lady golfers to the top prize of an air ticket courtesy of Kenya Airways on top of a trophy and other goodies from Wandaz and Aquafina.

Dennis Kawalya, with a 19 handicap, also picked an air ticket and the same goodies after returning a net score of 69 to beat the likes of Aggrey Mutaka and Dickson Agaba, who played 70 and 71 in the men’s Group A.

The tournament that ushered in Lady Captain Wendy Angudeyo’s second term also had Harriet Kitaka and Peace Kabasweka on the podium in the ladies’ Group A where the former edged the latter by a stroke, although the latter also picked the nearest to the pin gong.

It was a tightly contested affair in Group B where Aidha Khamis edged Mary Zaramba on count-back after they both returned 74nett. It was the same scenario in Group C where Shallom Kayenje similarly edged Maria Ochienge after they both carded 73nett. But they all picked White Cap Crisp beer gifts and a dozen golf balls each.

Judith Komugisa and John Musiimenta picked the longest-drive prizes as Shamim Juma and Tushar Doshi walked away with the seniors’ accolades. Tarit Kimtai took the guest winners’ and nearest to the pin prizes.

The tournament attracted a full house including the Member of Parliament for Sheema Municipality Dickson Kateshumbwa who represented the Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa who recently joined the UGU as a trustee.

Kateshumbwa told golfers that the parliamentarians were keen on elevating golf in the country by working with the government and all other relevant institutions, and ensuring that golf courses are protected from encroachers.

The tournament was sponsored by KCB Bank, White Cap Crisp, Gorilla Heights Lodge, Orchard Interiors, Case Medical Services, Kenya Airways, NBS Sport, and Crown Beverages Limited (Aquafina).
