Kenyan Nduva assumes leadership in the Entebbe Open

The Kenyan had a good start with three birdies on the front nine on holes 1, 3, and 5 in between two bogeys on 4 and 8. But he birdied the par-4 13 following a run of four pars before another birdie on the par-5 13 ensured a perfect round for him.

Kenyan Daniel Nduva shot a second round 2-under 69 to take a two-stroke lead as the fourth Entebbe Open raged on at Entebbe Club on Wednesday.

Nduva, who is no stranger to the Entebbe Course and has been a regular competitor in Ugandan tournaments, having won the Uganda Open in 2019, recorded five birdies to finish with a best-of-the round 69 and take a 2-stroke lead ahead of overnight leader Andrew Ssekibejja and Bulhan Matovu, who are tied in second on a gross of 143 after 36 holes.

His five birdies were only matched by Silver Opio who shot par 71, jumping up by six places on the leaderboard into fifth place, going into the third of four rounds in the sh36m-72-hole competition.

Matovu and Ssekibejja could not replicate their opening round heroics, dropping three and seven strokes, respectively, in the second round.
