KCCA, UCU Doves bolster squads as Volleyball League transfers shut

The transfer window for the 2026/27 National Volleyball League has officially closed, with clubs finalising their squads ahead of the new season, which begins in August.

The Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) will gazette and publish the list of all fully registered clubs and their duly registered players for the 2026/27 season across the country.

Several clubs strengthened their squads during the transfer window as they prepare to challenge for league honours.

UCU Doves were among the busiest men's teams, signing former Sport-S attacker Allan Alinda, Owinjo Silver from Elyon Volleyball Club, and David Kigozi from KAVC. Police Volleyball Club signed Rukundo Smith from KAVC, while Ntinda Volleyball Club recruited Briton Kananura and Fairuzi Kyeranyi.

In the women's league, defending champions KCCA Volleyball Club added experienced players Otin Hadijah and Diana Usher to bolster their squad ahead of their title defence and continental assignments.

Vision Volleyball Club signed Moreen Mwamula and Faith Magole from KCCA, while KCB-Nkumba strengthened their team with Josephine Akurut, Joseline Akurut, and Supernatural Bakususimire. Former captain Monica Aloyo is also expected to return to the club.

COBAP Volleyball Club signed Irene Mbabazi, while Seroma Christian Volleyball Club secured the services of Hadijah Achelun from Vision Volleyball Club.

The UVF also reiterated its regulations on foreign players, stating that no foreign player will be allowed to compete in any sanctioned competition without a valid International Transfer Certificate (ITC).

The federation said every transfer must include signatures from both clubs involved, a passport-size photograph, and proof of payment before approval is granted.

Meanwhile, the fate of the 2025/26 Men's National Volleyball League finals remains unclear more than two months after the competition was suspended due to a player eligibility dispute.

The finals were halted in April after the National Council of Sports (NCS) intervened following a complaint by Nemostars Volleyball Club over their disqualification from the playoffs.

The UVF had ruled that Nemostars and St Charles Lwanga Ntinda Volleyball Club fielded ineligible players, awarding Elyon Volleyball Club and Nkumba Volleyball Club 3–0 victories and places in the finals.

Earlier this month, UVF president Sadik Zaid Nasiwu said the Executive Committee would study all available options, consult stakeholders, and make a final decision that protects the interests of the sport, clubs, players, and the federation.

The rulings effectively reshaped both the Serie A and Serie B finals, but the competition has remained unresolved ever since.
