Katogo beats Kwacha/Hole Out/Well Out in Entebbe Match-Play Championship

Team Katogo of Entebbe Club narrowly defeated Kwacha/Hole Out/Well Out, 20-19, to win the 2025 match-play challenge at Entebbe Club on Saturday.


The victors were led by their captain, Elly Mukasa, who partnered with Andrew Kibaya as they dispatched Emma Wamimbi/Israel Arinaitwe with a score of 3&2 (won by three holes with two to go).

 

But it was the pair of Moses Ochole/Mulungi Seruwo who set the Katogo wins rolling in match-3, beating Dennis Tela/Arthur Arinaitwe, 1UP.


Twinemanzi Tumubweinee/Robbins Mwehaire and Peter Magona/Paul Kaheru also recorded uniform 5&4 victories over Ian Mutiibwa/Dickson Agaba and David Batanda/Sarah Nduhukire, respectively, just like Ssubi Kiwanuka/Hannington Mpiima and James Okema/Alan Sematimba, who beat Charles Mubiru/Timothy Okanya and Alan Sematimba/Alex Muwanguzi, 2&1 and 4&3, respectively.


Additional victories for Katogo came from Lony Akena and Nicholas Kebba, who defeated Collins Mwesigwa and M. Musinguzi 4&3. Adrian Bukenya and Maureen Okura won 2UP against Bruce Aijuka and Isaiah Tugumenawe, while Morgan Otile and Hebert Opolot secured a 2&1 win over Walter Tukahiirwa and Ruth Akello. Innocent Khika and James O’Sullivan edged out Michael Kijjambu and Andrew Opio, 1UP.


Kwacha/Hole Out/Well Out also secured important wins. Andrew Baguma and Yunus Bbaale won 4&3 against Harry Hakiza and Rukia Nalwoga. Allan Akira and Ivan Arinaitwe, Moses Mukiibi and Ernest Rukundo, Nelson Ojwiya, and Edward Okech each recorded 4&3 victories in their respective matches. Paul Nuwagaba and Richard Matsiko achieved the largest margin of the day with a 5&3 win over Michael Monne and Arthur Gwaku. Additionally, Joseph Kimani and Joseph Luyima, T.E. Lwanga and Lawrence Walakira, Arthur Kiwanuka and Mike Muhangi, and Vincent Katutsi and Sam Kacungira each won their matches 2&1.


The annual four-ball-better-ball challenge between the club’s social teams attracted 78 pairs. Entebbe will conclude their calendar with the Grand MTN Tee of Tees on December 13.
