Ochore and Sseruwo clinch Katogo Golf Series third leg at Entebbe Club

Each player recorded their score on every hole; however, only the lower score of the two counted towards the team's total, meaning that only one score was considered while the other was disregarded.

Moses Ochore and Mulungi Sseruwo secured victory in the third leg of the I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series at Entebbe Club on Saturday, finishing with a score of 609 points.

The weekend's competition utilized the 'Daytona' format, where players competed in pairs.

Each player recorded their score on every hole; however, only the lower score of the two counted towards the team's total, meaning that only one score was considered while the other was disregarded.

Playing under the name ‘Harima,’ the winners triumphed over Charles Kakaire and Albert Otete (Team Street), who finished with 630 nett in second. As champions, Ochore and Sseruwo earned two RwandAir tickets to any destination served by the airline, along with one night's accommodation (B&B) for two at Lake Victoria Serena Hotel.

Team Street, in turn, received RwandAir hampers and a weekend stay for two at Kampala Serena Hotel. Team BMP (Francis Mukonyezi and Ronald Pulle), who finished third overall with a score of 638 nett, also received hampers and will enjoy a round of golf and a meal at Lake Victoria Serena for their efforts.

Herbert Musinguzi and Denis Mujuni, playing as the ‘Par Boyz,’ finished third overall with a score of 665 nett. Paul Lakidi and Fred Kabanda (Cocody) came in fourth, while the Luo Queens (Anne Abeja and Ruth Akello) and the ‘Grip and Sip’ team (Albert Gitta and Herbert Olowo) finished fifth and sixth with scores of 666 and 670 nett, respectively.

Pre-tournament quiz winners Ellis Katwebaze, Anthony Agaba, Haggai Kijjambu, Hellen Kisinde, and Cathy Natukunda were awarded gold label reserve bottles. The hole-in-one Mitsubishi Outlander Sport (X-force) car, though, remains unclaimed, as no golfer has achieved this feat.

However, Michael Tumusiime won the gross score prize with a score of three-over-par 74. Innocent Kihika, Bridget Basiima, Moureen Okura, and Peter Magona earned the nearest-to-the-pin and longest drive prizes. The 19th-hole experience was celebrated with a Soul R&B theme, where participants donned cowboy attire. The best-dressed attendees were rewarded for embracing the theme.

Renowned comedian Patrick ‘Salvado’ Idringi provided entertainment with his humorous jokes, while golfers enjoyed exciting cocktails and special offers on Johnnie Walker spirits.

I&M Bank CEO Robin Bairstow announced that the bank would donate sh20 million towards the education of caddies and the children of the maintenance staff, continuing their corporate social responsibility efforts associated with the tournament.

The I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series is co-sponsored by Johnnie Walker, Victoria Motors, GA Insurance, Rwanda Air, Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa, Kampala Serena Hotel, Fenon Events, Goldman’s Luxury, NBS Sport, Case Hospital, and Time Cop Security.
