Golfers from the Uganda Golf Club and Entebbe Club shared fond memories of the late golfer Henry Kamuntu during another memorial tournament that took place at Kitante on Saturday.

Henry Kamuntu, who previously worked at Stanbic and was the son of former Minister Ephraim Kamuntu, actively participated in both the Uganda Golf Club and Entebbe Club.

Following his death from COVID-19 in 2021, the 'Kwacha' social golf group has been hosting memorial tournaments at both venues.

The funds raised from these tournaments have provided assistance to his family, which includes two daughters, a son, and their mother, Robinah Kamuntu.

Following Saturday's tournament, the Kwacha members donated sh20m to the family during an event that received backing from Uganda Airlines, Stanbic Bank, Equity Bank, Absa and other corporate sponsors.

Michael Nimoh's score of 69nett secured him victory in the competition that came with a Uganda Airlines ticket to any destination he chooses.

The Uganda Airlines team, consisting of Boniface Toko, Richard Oloka, Maurice Ongwech, and Herbert Kamuntu, claimed the team victory with a combined score of 226nett, defeating the Stanbic team of Israel Arinaitwe, Arthur Kiwanuka, Craig Muwanguzi, and Andrew Muhwezi, who finished with 238 nett.

Ephraim Kamuntu encouraged the deceased's family not to lose hope, emphasizing that they have an extensive network of friends among the golfing community who remain dedicated to providing ongoing support.

Paul Charles Rukundo, captain of the Uganda Golf Club, expressed gratitude to the golfers for their attendance and committed to continuing annual support for the Kamuntu family through this tournament. The Entebbe Club plans to hold another commemorative event on December 6 in Entebbe. "Let us celebrate our brother's life and live as fully as he did," he stated.

Herbert Kamuntu, the deceased's older brother, expressed appreciation to all sponsors who collaborated to ensure the event's success.
