Kampala Queens FC, the 2024/25 FUFA Women Super League champs, proved their mettle with a 2-0 win over Yei Joint Stars FC, who are the champions of the South Sudan Women’s Super League.

The friendly match took place at Juba National Stadium on Sunday 8.

The Queens kicked off with a lot of energy. In the 18th minute, Peace Muduwa scored the first goal after a well-coordinated play, giving Kampala Queens an early lead.

Just seven minutes later, the team captain, Shamirah Nalugya, who recently won the league’s Most Valuable Player award, added another goal in the 25th minute.

By halftime, Kampala Queens were leading 2-0, showcasing their teamwork on unfamiliar ground.

In the 55th minute, they had to make a substitution when Nakibuuka Asia came on for the injured Peace Muduwa.

Later in the match, the head coach swapped out a few other players where Nabulobi Patience took the place of Anitah Namata, Namakula Gloria replaced goalkeeper Daisy Nakaziro, and Winniefred Kwatulira came in for Catherine Nagadya.

Even with pressure from the home team, the Queens held their ground and maintained their lead.

The final score was 2-0 in favor of Kampala Queens, who kept a clean sheet.

Yei Joint Stars had former Kampala Queens players Lillian Mutuzo and Damalie Matama on their squad, but they couldn’t turn the tide.
