Kaberamaido Secondary School and Midland High School have been crowned champions of the Kaberamaido District Secondary Schools Football Tournament following intense finals played at Kaberamaido SS grounds on Monday, March 24, 2025.
In the boys' category, Midland High School claimed victory after defeating Kaberamaido SS 6-5 in a dramatic penalty shootout, following a goalless draw in regulation time. The tense shootout saw both teams take seven penalties each, with Kaberamaido SS missing one save and another shot going wide, while Midland also had one penalty miss.
Meanwhile, Kaberamaido SS girls' team secured their championship with a hard-fought 1-0 win over St. Thomas Girls' SS in a tightly contested match.
During the trophy presentation, Francis Atubo, Chairperson of the Kaberamaido Secondary Schools Sports Association, urged qualifying schools to prepare adequately for the upcoming zonal championships.
"We must not lose our slots due to absenteeism. Let us compete strongly against schools from other districts," Atubo emphasized.
Molly Monica Alweyo, representing the District Education Office, assured limited but committed support for teams progressing to the zonal tournament.
The Assistant RDC of Kaberamaido, Rashid Adakun, advised athletes to maintain discipline, warning against early sexual activity and HIV/AIDS risks. "Your health and future matter as much as your sports talent," he cautioned while presenting the trophies.
