The weather won on the opening weekend of the 2025 UCA National League, as half of the games were abandoned due to the heavy rain.

JACC and Aboojo claimed victories in the two top-flight games that went ahead, defeating Rounders and Tornado Bees by 44 runs and four wickets respectively.

Consequently, the two sides are top of the Premiership standings, with JACC ahead of the log courtesy of better net run rate. The Rounders are bottom.

From third to six, there is a four-way tie involving the Kutchi Tigers, Wanderers, Avengers, and Ceylon Lions. All four are inseparably tied, and their position in the standings at the moment is completely random.

The eight-team table is eye-catching not just for who is there and where. It is also striking for the absentees, namely record league champions Tornado and other historical clubs like Nile, Premier, and Africa – who are languishing in the lower leagues.
