George Lutalo named Crested Cranes coach

Former URA FC assistant tactician George Lutalo has been named the head coach for the Uganda Women’s National Team - the Crested Cranes.

Lutalo replaces Faridah Bulega who has enrolled for a CAF B Coaching Course in Nairobi, Kenya.

Edward Kaziba has been maintained as the assistant coach, while James Magala retains his position as goalkeeping coach.

Former Uganda Cranes goalkeeper, Paul Ssali will serve as the Team Manager whereas Mable Kabatalindwa and Prossy Nalwadda are the team doctor and equipment manager respectively.

Coach Lutalo's first assignment will be the 2021 COSAFA Women’s Championship in Port Elizabeth, South Africa from September 28 to October 9.

The tournament will act as a buildup to the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) Qualifiers where the Crested Cranes will play Ethiopia at the first round phase in October.

A provisional squad of 32 players has been summoned to start training for COSAFA.

The team that comprises four goalkeepers, nine defenders, 12 midfielders, and seven forwards will enter camp at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on September 10.
