Uganda Premier League: BUL v Gaddafi (Njeru, 4:00 pm)

BUL FC will be hoping to put an end to their poor run of form in the second round of the Uganda Premier League when they host Jinja rivals Gaddafi at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru on Wednesday in what promises to be a cracking Busoga derby.

BUL has lost back-to-back games to URA and SC Villa, two results that have affected their title tilt as they lie third on the table.

BUL tactician Simeon Masaba who is new in the role since replacing Alex Isabirye, has promised to bounce back strongly today against Gaddafi.

“We haven’t looked good since the start of the second round much as our guests are also struggling, we are not taking them lightly because this is a derby. We have done enough homework, corrected the mistakes we made against Villa, and we are ready to pick our first win,” a confident Masaba said.

Masaba has so far been in charge of two games; the first, a 1-0 win over Onduparaka in the Uganda Cup before last week’s loss to SC Villa in Lira.

Victory for BUL will see them go move within two points of second-placed Villa who are on 34 points.

On the other hand, the recent run of two draws and a loss have Gaddafi’s boss Wasswa Bbosa itching for a win.

“In our last game against Express at home, the team played well. We were just not clinical enough to finish off our chances but I was pleased with their performances. It, therefore, gives hope that if we can produce a similar or better display, we can get the three points,” Bbosa said.

Gaddafi in 10th place with 23 points, should they get a win, will leapfrog URA in eighth place.

In the reverse fixture at Gaddafi’s Kakindu Stadium home, the spoils were shared in a 1-1 all-draw. Ibrahim Kanzindula scored for BUL from a penalty spot early in the first half before Bakali Magundu levelled for Gaddafi in the second half.
