Bermuda 95 in 28.5 overs Uganda 99/2 in 17.5 overs (Uganda won by 8 wickets)

Uganda’s bowlers took advantage of the early morning conditions to bowl out Bermuda in the ICC CWC Challenge League B on Tuesday morning bringing up their first victory.

The Cricket Cranes finally got into the winners' circle with an eight-wicket victory over Bermuda.

Dinesh Nakrani (2 wickets) and Riazat Ali Shah found purchase on a wicket that has made life tough for Uganda.

Frank Akankwasa made quite the impression in his first over, finishing off Bermuda without breaking a sweat. Juma Miyaji (1), skipper Brian Masaba (1) and Henry Ssenyondo (1) all made a big difference.

Ssenyondo bowled five maidens in his eight overs to the loss of runs. Captain Masaba was happy to change the paradigm after some grim performances.

“Obviously we take the win. We are excited to get off the mark and to give the fans something to cheer about because it is not because we have managed to get off the mark,” said Brian Masaba.

This was perhaps the first time things went according to plan for team Uganda with the ball, a performance that also translated to their work with the bat.

Simon Ssesazi (50) did quite the work with the bat as he stayed on the crease for the whole of Uganda’s chase.

His partner Arnold Otwani was caught for 2 but Ronak Patel’s 19-run cameo was good enough followed by Charles Waiswa’s 19 helped Uganda over the line.
