Aahil Bagalana shot a closing-season 45 gross at the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa to finish on top as the opening season of the NCBA Junior Golf Series championship ended on Sunday.
Playing in the 6 and under category, the Harmony International School year-one pupil emerged as the overall winner of the season after accumulating a total of 180 points over the six rounds of action played on different courses.
He carded 54 during the opening round at Serena in March, which he followed with 46 and 45 in Entebbe and at the Uganda Golf Club over nine holes, respectively, before he scored another 45 at the Lugazi Hills and Country Club course. He then scored a uniform 46 in both the fifth and sixth rounds at UGC and Serena to finish ahead of Nehemiah Matsiko and Elijah Agaba, who collected 170 and 75 points in the category, respectively.
Different winners show off their medals
Timothy Samuel Tayebwa Rubandamayonza topped the 7-year-old category with 200 and 150 points, respectively, while Varad Mahendra Godse finished top of the 8-year-olds ahead of Alkesander Sequeira, Austin Abraham Abaho, Ahumuza Ruyondo, and Karl Eugene Akimanzi Tibayendera, who amassed 155, 12.50, 84, and 60 points, respectively.
The top player among the 9-year-olds was Dante Kawalya, who finished first with 210 points, ahead of Imran Ahmad, Jeremy Kirabo Nsereko, Klaus Murangira, Dominic Nkurunziza, and Shayne Suleman, who got 128.50, 99, 62, 55 and 52.50 points, respectively.
Lucas Kimara (210 pts) Ethan Namara (120 pts), and Nigel Yoash Ssemambo (101 pts) were the top players in the ten-year-old category, just like Nathaniel Nzeyi and Mohammadaaban Tanweer, who collected 120 and 90 points, respectively, among the 11-year-olds. Jordan Van Rooyen (180 pts) and Aadi Chandariya (20 pts) are the best among the 12-year-olds, while Banza Matsiko (210 pts), Calvin Jeremy Nasaaba (120 pts) and Sean Kusasira Nsereko (110 pts) are the top performers in the 13-14 category.
National junior team player Peter Mayende (140 pts) leads the 15-18 years category, followed by Shashank Sachin Gadre (125 pts) and Gavin Bwambale (116 pts).
In the girls’ competition, Winnie Musuya, Catherine Nakimuli, and Joanita Nanyombi are still top in the same category with 210, 137.50 and 104.50 points, respectively, just like Harsshitha Loganathan (180 pts), Danelle Kawalya (150 pts) and Hannah Nkurunziza (65 pts) in the 13-14 category.
The top players in the 11-12 years category are Jamilah Namara with 180 points and Patience Ssebagala with 170 points. In the 9-10 years category, Jenny Arianna Tumwesigye leads with 190 points, followed by Hannah Matsiko with 160 points. For the 8 and under category, Elizabeth Mwagale tops the group with 210 points, followed by Siima Janda with 102 points and Karin Murangira with 70 points.
