KAGADI - After a successful MK birthday run in Kololo to green Kampala, the Patriot League of Uganda (PLU) supporters, Saturday, May 31, turned up in big numbers to participate in the MK Birthday Run, Kagadi Edition, the first activity outside Kampala City.

The run, organised in Muhooro Town in Buyaga West Constituency in Kagadi district and organised by the area PLU coordinator James Byarugaba, drew supporters from within and outside the region to celebrate Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba's 51st birthday and fight to protect the environment.

Speaking to fans after a run around Muhooro Town, Byarugaba thanked all supporters who took part in the first activity organised towards the implementation of the climate change mitigation plan.

"Every step you take with me and PLU is a step towards protecting our planet Earth. Let us unite for climate action and a greener tomorrow," he said.

He remarked that climate change had negatively affected many people, mainly farmers, and the adverse effects have taken a big toll on their farm produce.

He said that recently, farmers get rain when they least need it and sunshine when it is not required, mainly due to changes in weather patterns.

"Gen Muhoozi gave us the responsibility to roll out a climate change mitigation plan through planting trees, and it has been first implemented in Kagadi."

Bob Kakuru, one of the coordinators of the Patriot Club Uganda under the patronage of Andrew Mwenda, said climate change is real, and it was high time that everyone embraced the plan for a better tomorrow.

The function was attended by Bashir Ssemakula from Bukomansimbi South and PLU deputy coordinator in Greater Masaka, who said that in addition to planting trees, he wants the people of Kagadi to plant coffee like their fellows in Bukomansimbi.

He also used the occasion to ask people to endorse President Yoweri Museveni unopposed as NRM candidate for the 2026 general elections. "Thank you for working with Byarugaba. Such leaders with vision need to be supported to push forward the agenda to get people out of poverty."
