Police on Saturday, November 8, 2025, said they were investigating an incident in which a woman was killed by falling debris from a building under construction.

"Police at Katwe are investigating a case of rush and negligent act that led to the death of Shamilah Nvanungi Mastula, aged 32, after rubble fell from a five-storey building under construction on Friday, November 7, 2025, in Kayanja Zone, Ndeeba, Rubaga Division, " Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson, said.

He revealed that preliminary findings indicate that part of the structure collapsed from the fifth floor, killing the victim instantly and injuring an unidentified male worker who was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

"The scene was documented by a team of detectives, and relevant exhibits were recovered. The body was conveyed to City Mortuary Mulago for postmortem examination," Owoyesigyire added.

He said investigations point to possible use of substandard materials and poor construction methods.

"The building, owned by Medy Nakibinge, has been under phased construction since 2020.

Police have cordoned off the site as inquiries continue," Owoyesigyire noted.
