Embattled former Rubaga Resident City Commissioner (RCC) Anderson Burora is seeking early retirement.

In his letter to President Yoweri Museveni dated March 28, 2024, Burora asks to retire so that he doesn’t bring disrepute to the name of the President, his office, and the government.

Burora was suspended on March 15, 2024, by Hajji Yunus Kakande, the secretary in the Office of the President, to pave the way for investigations over his constant attacks on Speaker of Parliament Anita Among on social media.

“Your excellency, your continuous teaching, guidance, and solution-oriented leadership have greatly shaped my work and impacted my life,” Burora says.

“It is said that you ordered for my immediate suspension... for making negative comments about the Speaker both on social media and mainstream media. Additionally, I refused to apologise to the Speaker which was the condition for stopping this disciplinary action,” he adds.

According to Burora, having been the President's representative, his suspension had brought disrepute to his (President) office: “Loss of public trust on whether I can still ably represent you, cognizant of the fact that my suspension was triggered by corruption related comments; if my suspension was to be lifted, the attitude of the public towards my office will be different, which will affect my productivity; the precedent will deter other RDC’s from pursuing the corrupt; and that corruption will rise because public servants will prefer silence to remain in good books of their superiors”.
