The National Women’s Council members have prayed for President Yoweri Museveni to recover from Covid-19. On Wednesday, led by the National Chairperson, Faridah Kibowa, the women said the president still have many unfulfilled pledges which he has to embark on.

“President has given us a platform to show our leadership skills just look at his Vice President, Jessica Alupo, Prime Minister Robina Nabbanja, Speaker of parliament, Annet Anita Amongi, Kampala Capital City Authority Executive Director, Dorothy Kisaka, Minister for Kampala Metropolitan Affairs, Hajjati Minsa Kabanda, among others, so we cannot just sit down when he is unwell,” Kibowa said.

She added that as Women Council, they will keep on their knees praying to ensure that God can heal him, to enable him resume with his leadership task.

“There is no body that loves Ugandans, women in particular better than our president, therefore, as mothers of the nation, we shall keep him in our prayers for a better continuity of his marvelous contribution towards the development of our country,” she added.

Kibowa further argued all the women in the country to embrace President Museveni as the father of the nation regardless of their political affiliation.

“We totally disagree with those who think that the president is faking the sickness in fear of the impact of the Anti-Homosexuality Act which he assented to recently.”

Meanwhile, Betty Atim, the Gulu District Women Council Chairperson asked Ugandans to forgive the president for whatever he has done wrong because he is also a human being.

“We are standing to repent for this nation, whatever our president has done wrong please forgive him Oh Lord, all we want is to listen to his testimony after his healing,” she prayed.

On the other hand, the group of reformed youths, men and women from all the five Divisions that forms up Kampala City, also flocked to Nakasero State House entrance to wish the president a quick recovery.

Led by Salim Menton, the group commended the president for giving them a chance to deal with them yet many had deserted them, calling them the uneducated, the poor, prostitutes, the dirty ones.

“The president through the KCCA Executive Director, Dorothy Kisaka brought us on board to co-exist and as we speak, we joined the battle towards the city transformation hence we continue to pray to God to enable Mama Janet Museveni continue to take good care of the president and their family including Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba for they have been there for us,” Menton said.

The 7Hills group also handed over a quick recovery card to Lubaga Resident City Commissioner, Anderson Burora to deliver to the president. In his response, Burora hailed the group for not forgetting what the president did for them. “It is human to wish a sick person a quick recovery, actually as you have showed him love, just know he will never forsake you in return,” Burora said.

In his latest update about his health, the President Museveni on Tuesday said that all those symptoms had gone.

“Sunday, Monday and today, I have been busy doing paper work. I would have gone out of self – confinement but when we checked on Sunday, I was still positive, but the other parameters were good. My social-media team brought me the messages that are overwhelmingly supportive. Thanks so much fellow Ugandans. I thank those who took the trouble to sign the boards at the Gate of Nakasero,“ he said.
