“I don’t know anything about the alleged appointment of a new king,” Kamurasi told the New Vision in an interview on September 6th. Omusuuga, who is pivotal in the kingdom’s succession mix, insisted that the Tooro royal establishment was yet to formally announce a new king. Kamurasi also rejected suggestions that he had discussed the alleged decision with Mwenda. “I have not spoken to him,” he said, adding that Mwenda “holds no position in Tooro Kingdom and cannot purport to speak on behalf of anyone here.”
Oyo’s death has opened an uncertain chapter over who will succeed the young monarch, despite various people in the kingdom hinting at Oyo leaving behind an heir.
