UPDF Land Forces holds handover of finance, public information offices
The Chief of Staff, Land Forces, Brig. Gen. Chris Bagonza, who presided over the ceremony, said leadership transitions are a natural part of institutional growth and continuity.
During the ceremony held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, Col. Joab Yebazibwe formally handed over the office of the Director of Finance to Lt. Col.Yona Tumuvamye, while Maj Peter Mugisha transferred the responsibilities of Public Information Officer to Maj Charles Kabona.
BOMBO - The Uganda Peoples' Defence Forces (UPDF) Land Forces has conducted a handover ceremony for the offices of Director of Finance and Public Information Officer at its Headquarters in Bombo.
During the ceremony held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, Col. Joab Yebazibwe formally handed over the office of the Director of Finance to Lt. Col.Yona Tumuvamye, while Maj Peter Mugisha transferred the responsibilities of Public Information Officer to Maj Charles Kabona.
The Chief of Staff, Land Forces, Brig. Gen. Chris Bagonza, who presided over the ceremony, said leadership transitions are a natural part of institutional growth and continuity.
He cited Ecclesiastes 3:1, which states that there is a time for everything.
Bagonza commended the outgoing Director of Finance Land Forces (Col. Yebazibwe), for his dedicated service and contribution to the UPDF during his tenure.
On his part, Lt Col Tumuvamye pledged to execute his duties with integrity, professionalism and accountability. He commended his predecessor for laying a strong foundation upon which he intends to build.
Maj Mugisa said the office had established productive working relationships with media stakeholders in Luwero and neighbouring areas, including collaboration with Greater Luwero Media to enhance public engagement and information dissemination.
Maj Kabona thanked the outgoing Public Information Officer for his dedicated service and pledged to build on the achievements already attained.
"We are not starting from zero. My experience in various directorates of the UPDF has prepared me for this assignment," Kabona said.
The ceremony was attended by several senior officers, including the Joint Staff Finance, Brig. Gen. Robert Mugabe, Acting Director of Human Resource Management, Land Forces, Brig Gen Emmanuel Ayuk Ewama, Director of Logistics, Land Forces, Col Steven Malinga, among other officers.
