Teacher among 10 held over alleged computer theft at Oyam school

Police in Oyam district are holding 10 suspects in connection with the alleged theft of computers from Ngai Senior Secondary School.
The suspects include the school's ICT teacher, Tonny Olobo; security guards Patrick Ogwal, Isaac Ogwang and Tom Ebam; and five 17-year-old students whose identities have been withheld because they are juveniles.
According to a police report, 16 central processing units (CPUs) valued at sh40 million were stolen from the school's computer laboratory at about 2am on Sunday by unknown assailants.
The report indicates that the head teacher, Janani Okot, alerted Olobo after discovering the theft, before a case of office breaking and theft was reported to police.

He added that statements have been recorded from the suspects and other relevant witnesses, while police are also planning to review CCTV footage from the computer laboratory.
