Pallisa Central Police Station has detained 30 residents of Apujan sub-county in Katakwi district over allegations of arson, trespass, and malicious damage after allegedly setting ablaze the home of a suspected killer.

The group is accused of torching the home of Rashid Omaido, a suspected traditional healer.

They suspect Omaido of killing George William Malinga, a resident of Ariet village in Apujan sub-county, who had visited Omaido to check on his wife suspected to be mentally ill and under treatment.

The North Bukedi region police commander, Moses Kitiyo Mwanga, confirmed the arrests.

According to Mwanga, Rashid Omaido, 55, and Edirisa Omaido, 35, are key suspects in the matter, with a case file CRB/07/2025 opened.



Francis Akorikin, the Kapelebyong district LC5 chairperson, expressed disappointment and condemned the incident.

Louis Patrick Okia, the Assistant Resident District Commissioner of Pallisa, confirmed the incident and cautioned locals against seeking help from traditional healers, urging them to use government health facilities for proper services.
