Socialite Don Chris remanded for allegedly defrauding 127 job seekers

Christian Asiimwe, commonly known as Don Chris, has today afternoon (September 2, 2026) been charged and remanded to Luzira Prison for allegedly defrauding scores of Ugandans who were seeking jobs abroad.
Asiimwe was arraigned before City Hall court Senior Principal Grade One Magistrate Nicholas Aisu and charged with 127 counts relating to obtaining money and goods by false pretence, which he denied .
Court heard that Asiimwe, 32, obtained money and goods by false pretence from 127 job seekers by promising them jobs abroad.
The charges were contained in seven separate charge sheets, with each file having over 20 complainants, who were promised to be taken to countries, including Canada and Luxembourg.

According to prosecution, Asiimwe, a Munyankole by tribe and director of Sky Pins Tour and Travel Company, is alleged to have committed the offences between 2023 and 2025 in Ntinda, Nakawa Division, Kampala.
It is alleged that the accused collected between sh4m and sh10m from each of the victims.
The charges of obtaining money and goods by false pretence are contrary to Section 285 of the Penal Code Act, Cap 128. After Asiimwe denied the charges levelled against him, Principal State Attorney Miriam Akite informed court that investigations in the matter were complete and asked the magistrate for a hearing date.
Accordingly, Magistrate Aisu remanded Asiimwe to Luzira Prison until September 21, 2026, when the case will come up again for hearing.
