The Special Forces Command (SFC) has progressed in its rehearsals for the upcoming Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) drill competition scheduled for July 2026 at the SFC Training School, VVIPTS–Sera Kasenyi in Entebbe, Wakiso district.
Lt Seth Nasasira, the Public Information Officer at the Special Forces Group, in a statement released May 5, 2026, said during an inspection visit by Brigadier General Wickliffe Keita, the Joint Staff Training and Doctrine and head of the team from the UPDF General Headquarters in Mbuya, participants were urged to intensify their efforts to excel in the competition. Emphasis was placed on teamwork, discipline and alertness as key elements for success.
Keita said the CDF Drill Competition was introduced by CDF Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, not only to reward excellence but also to strengthen morale and reinforce discipline within the army.

He expressed satisfaction with the level of preparedness exhibited by the SFC, noting their steady progress towards competing effectively against other units across the UPDF.
He further encouraged participants to remain focused and proactive, ensuring they are well-prepared and not caught off guard by competitors.
He observed that while drill was traditionally viewed as purely ceremonial, it has now evolved into both a ceremonial and competitive discipline within the force.
Keita advised all participants entirely UPDF against engaging in any form of malpractice in pursuit of higher scores, urging them instead to uphold authenticity, discipline and professionalism in their performances.
He also highlighted that awards will be presented across various categories, including individual, group, and unit or service levels, in recognition of outstanding performance.
The event was attended by Col Dismas Kamuza, Deputy Commander of 1SFG; Colonel Night Ikiriza, Head of Administration SFC and newly elected UPDF Member of Parliament, as well as senior and junior officers who witnessed the rehearsals.
CDF drill competition
In February 2025, UPDF launched the inaugural edition of the CDF Inter-Forces Drill Competition at the UPDF Stadium in Bombo.
It is aimed at showcasing the highest standards of precision, teamwork, and discipline among military personnel.
The inaugural competition, held at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds last year, brought together sixteen units from across the services to compete in synchronised drills.
The CDF, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, praised the event as "excellent and enjoyable," emphasising the core values of the UPDF and the importance of military parades for coordination across different services and units. The competition is now part of the CDF's annual calendar, aiming to enhance discipline, teamwork, and professionalism within the forces.
