Sensitisation barazas will support mandatory cleaning — Pakwach LC5

PAKWACH - The LC5 Chairperson Pakwach, Shaban Ofoi Kinobe, has proposed that sensitisation barazas should be held throughout Uganda alongside the mandatory cleaning.
The countrywide Government initiative launched on Saturday, July 25, is to promote hygiene and sanitation.
Stressing that a clean environment is key in preventing several diseases like malaria, diarrhoea and typhoid, Kinobe, while addressing cleaning groups in Pakwach, said that leaders should use the monthly clean-up exercise to hold barazas.

“The exercise shouldn't just stop at sanitation but the overall functioning of the government systems.
The clean-up should also go a long way to clean up our political system and accountability system. As leaders, we must embrace the spirit of transparency and effective delivery of service,” he said on Saturday.
Other leaders who supervised the drive in different sub-counties included the LC5, councillors and officers of Uganda Police Force.

The Jonam County MP, Marshall Godfrey Alenyo, pledged to maintain top clean standards, prioritising the government institutions, communities, including markets and the landing sites.
Lillian Awachango, a resident of Pakwach Town Council, said the government needs to inject funds to ensure the cleanliness of the Town Council.
She is grateful to the government through the local council for tarmacking two roads within the town council.
