Police mount road blocks, block motorists in Wakiso

WAKISO - Traffic officers of the Uganda Police Force on Saturday mounted a roadblock along Kiwologoma Road joining Kira Municipality, Wakiso district to enforce the mandatory National Cleaning Day launch.
A motorcycle was parked in the middle of the road to restrict movement until the three-hour exercise was completed. Only vehicles with essential workers drove past .
However, pedestrians who claimed they had completed cleaning their homes walked past the barricade without hesitation.
According to traffic officer Judith Ategeka, bodaboda riders gave the officers a hard time as they didn't want to comply with the government's directive.

“Some of them refused to stop, and others started abusing us,” Ategeka said.
However, police officer Anne Tusiimwe described the exercise as smooth.
