KAMPALA - The Minister of Water and Environment Sam Cheptoris has flagged off a team of over 100 Walkers that will pace 371km to sensitize Ugandans on the dangers of climate change.

The 371 Km walk started at the Ministry of Water and Environment in Kampala on Tuesday, and they will proceed via the districts of Wakiso, Mpigi, Mityana, Mubende, Kyegegwa, Kyenjojo, Fort Portal and River Nyamwamba catchment in Kasese district and will take 11 days.

The Walk is being spearheaded by the Ministry of Water and Environment in partnership with other stakeholders including Walkers Association of Uganda, National Forestry Authority, CARE International in Uganda, Vi-Agroforestry Project, INBAR and Coca Cola, among others.
The 2021 Water and Environment walk is under the theme "Walking for Water, Environment, Climate Change and Public Health."
The event was also graced by the State Minister of Environment Beatrice Atim Anywar, the Acting Director Water Development Engineer Joseph Eyatu, the Commissioner Water Resources Planning and Regulations Department Dr. Callist Tindimugaya, and others.
