New Tooro king to be enthroned on September 29

FORT PORTAL - The Tooro Kingdom has set September 29th as the date for the enthronement of King Edward Rukidi Kaijanangoma Nyabongo I.
The announcement was made by Omusuuga Charles Kamurasi, the head of the Babiito royal clan, during a meeting with journalists in Fort Portal on Tuesday evening.
Kamurasi said preparations for the coronation would begin immediately, with committees expected to be formed to oversee the different aspects of the ceremony.
“I want to inform the country and the whole world that the King of Tooro will be enthroned on the 29th of this month,” Kamurasi said.
He said he would make further announcements calling upon different sections of society and people involved in the preparations for the coronation to take part in the process.
“We are going to start with committees. All the people who want to know about the coronation of the new king are free to come to the palace. Tomorrow, we are ready to begin in full swing,” he said.

Kamurasi said the formation of the committees would mark the beginning of preparations for the enthronement, with different groups expected to play roles in organising the ceremony.
The announcement comes shortly after Kaijanangoma was declared the new king of Tooro by Kamurasi during a sitting of the Babiito royal clan.
Kaijanangoma, son of the late Prince Christopher Paul Kijanangoma and grandson of Omukama Sir George David Rukidi Kamurasi 111, was announced as his successor to the throne hitherto held by his cousin Oyo for 31 years.
