Law student crowned Miss Tourism Rwenzori region

Under a theme, 'Rethinking Tourism,' the 5th edition of Miss Tourism Rwenzori, was organised by Brand ambassadors 256 with support from several companies and organisations.

MISS | TOURISM | RWENZORI 

KASESE - Sarah Kenyana, 22, a law student at Kampala International University, was crowned the Miss Tourism Rwenzori region at a function held on Saturday night in Kasese town. 

The function which was officiated by Martin Muggara, the Minister of State for Tourism and Godfrey Kabyanga, the minister of state for ICT, was part of the four days Rwenzori festivals which ran from September 1 to 4, 2022.

Also present was Frigo Kambale, the Member of Parliament for Kasese Municipality among other dignitaries. Kenyana was followed by 20year old Daphne Kabugho Kaija, a student at Kyambogo university whereas Joy Mbambu, a student at Uganda Christian University came in the third position.

Both ministers pledged total support from their respective ministries towards the biggest tourism event in the Rwenzori region whereas the former minister Nyombi Thembo pledged to cater for the university tuition fees for the newly crowned queen.

"The crowned winner won a full-year school fees tuition from Kikorongo Safari Lodge courtesy of Hon. Nyombi Thembo, while the first and second runners-up, got a smartphone each, with six months data from the same Kikorongo Safari Lodge," noted Bismak Amumpeire, the team leader under Brand Ambassadors 256.

The panel of judges was Stephen Nyadru, the warden for Queen Elizabeth National Park under Uganda Wildlife Authority, John Zironda, the programmes officer in charge of forests, wildlife and fresh water under World Wide Fund for nature and Charlotte Nagawa Beauvoisin, a tourism consultant, digital marketing trainer and creator of a travel blog known as 'Diary of a Muzungu.'
