How fights in works ministry led to suspension of engineers

Insiders say the infighting is largely underpinned by merger reforms that saw staff of the now defunct Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) migrate to the works ministry. The fight for the permanent secretary job, insiders added, is the other factor that has created animosity within the works and transport sector.

The Busega-Mpigi Expressway, whose realignment and rising cost — from sh547.5b to over sh1.3 trillion — are now the subject of a parliamentary and Inspectorate of Government probe.
