Govt probes trafficking, murder of Ugandan girls in Dubai

The International Police (Interpol) team in Uganda, led by Assistant Inspector General of Police, Joseph Obwona, has also issued a red notice against Charles Mwesigwa alias Abbey, who is suspected to be involved in the recruitment of female Ugandans into a sex-ring network, where majority are reported to have suffered exploitation under his watch in Dubai.

n Tuesday, September 16, 2025, Mwesigwa was rumoured to have been arrested by the United Arab Emirates Police. However, Kituuma said his alleged arrest had not yet been brought to their attention.
