KAMPALA - Discipline, precision, cohesion and national pride have taken centre stage at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds as the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) officially kick off the 2nd Edition of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Inter-Forces Drills Competition.
Running under the theme “Precision, Discipline, and Cohesion: Pillars of National Resilience and Transformation,” this year’s competition has significantly expanded, drawing over 1,400 participants across more than 40 teams representing various UPDF service branches, formations, and specialised units.
Beyond traditional foot drills, sword and crop-stick manoeuvres, and pace-stick displays, the 2nd Edition introduces dynamic creative categories, blending military precision with Ugandan cultural heritage, synchronised formations, storytelling, and music integration. The opening proceedings kicked off with an inter-faith blessing led by prominent religious figures, including Pastor Robert Kayanja of Miracle Centre Cathedral and Pastor Aloysius Bugingo of House of Prayer Ministries, who committed the event and the armed forces to God.
Beyond traditional foot drills, sword and crop-stick manoeuvres, and pace-stick displays, the 2nd Edition introduces dynamic creative categories, blending military precision with Ugandan cultural heritage, synchronised formations, storytelling, and music integration.
The Grand Finale will be officiated by the deputy CDF, Lt. Gen. Sam Okiding, who is expected to represent the CDF, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
At the climax of the drills, top-performing drill units, individual commanders, and creative teams will be awarded.
