A two-year-old boy drowned in flood waters in Najjera in Wakiso district on a Tuesday of unending rainfall that disrupted business activity and stranded travelers.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango identified the young victim as Bostiline Ainebyoona.

He died after reportedly sneaking out of their home in the village of Bulabira in Kira Municipality.

Clare Asiimwe, the boy's caretaker, said Ainebyoona was playing with other children inside their home, and does not know how he sneaked out and fell into a flooded trench just outside the house.

Asiimwe was doing laundry inside the house, Police said.

The boy had been under the care of both Asiimwe and Charles Makumbi.

Meanwhile, Onyango said Tuesday's persistent rain disturbed the traffic flow within Kampala, as sections of some roads got flooded.

Among videos posted on social media on the rain was one showing a motorcycle, abandoned by its rider, being washed away by flood waters on Yusuf Lule Road.

Twitter got flooded with photos of motorists stuck in heavy jam on wet roads and pedestrians negotiating through flooded stretches while others waited out the unending rainfall.

It was a day to forget for some businesspeople, who lost property worth millions after their shops, houses and offices got filled with rainwater.

As predicted by the meteorologists, the rainy season has begun.

While some are welcoming it for their agricultural interests, others are cursing it for its disruptive side.
