The lawyer of outgoing Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among showed up at her home in Bukedea district on Friday as investigators began searching the property amid investigations into Among's alleged involvement in corruption and abuse of office.
Caleb Alaka arrived at the residence located in Aputput village, Aerere parish in Kamutur sub-county at around 12:35 pm.
He was granted access to the premises by soldiers stationed at the main gate after identifying himself as Among’s personal lawyer.
Sources said Alaka was then escorted into the residence by security personnel, where he joined the team of detectives who have remained inside the compound for hours conducting the operation.
Shortly afterwards, Kamutur sub-county chairperson Jackson Ojekede was also allowed into the residence.
Outside the heavily guarded compound, residents, journalists and curious onlookers watched from a distance.
Police officers from the South Kyoga region joined the operation, a deployment confirmed to New Vision on phone by a senior police officer who preferred anonymity because he is not authorised to comment publicly.

“Our team of officers joined the Kampala team, who have come to conduct a search at the home of the former Speaker,” the officer said on telephone.
Security vehicles and personnel maintained a strong presence at the property since morning, with access to the compound strictly controlled.
Among's homes searched
The latest deployment comes just days after joint security operatives conducted searches at Among’s residences in Kampala and Wakiso districts.
Luxury vehicles belonging to the embattled departing Speaker were towed out of the residences in Kigo and Nakasero.
The security operations began last Saturday.
Investigators also searched the office of Among at Parliament and that of other Parliamentary officials, including the Clerk to Parliament Adolf Kasaija Mwesige.
Meanwhile, local residents said security arrangements at her Bukedea home appeared to have changed on Sunday night with the deployment of additional personnel.
“We woke up to a new security detail at the gate while the usual police officers were taken inside,” one, who preferred to remain anonymous, told New Vision.
