The Teachers Making a Difference delegation visited the breathtaking Irish Sea along Ireland’s eastern coast — a serene expanse that separates the island from Great Britain. The cool breeze greeted them warmly at the shore, and for many, it was their first time seeing the sea — apart from glimpsing it from above on their flight to Dublin.
They later visited Mount Oliver, the initial resting place of Mother Kevin, founder of the Little Sisters of St. Francis, whose remains were later reinterred in Uganda. The team also paused to pray, reflect, and reconnect with the enduring spirit of her legacy — a humbling tribute to a life devoted to compassion and learning.
The Teachers Making a Difference project aims to recognise and reward individual teachers who have gone beyond the call of duty and innovatively used limited resources to impact their learners and communities positively. Over 170 teachers at various levels have been recognised since the initiative was launched. The programme is part of Vision Group's Ugandan's Making a Difference programme implemented in partnership with the Irish Embassy and Travelcare.
The teachers are in Ireland for a week-long continuous professional development program.
