President Museveni pledges sh2b for Bishop Orombi complex at UCU Arua Campus

ARUA - The Administration of Uganda Christian University Arua campus has revealed President Yoweri Museveni’s sh2b pledge towards the construction of Bishop Luke Orombi ICT complex at Uganda Christian University Arua Campus.

According to the director of the UCU Campus Arua Rev. Julius Izza Tabi, the president pledged recently after meeting the delegation from the university led by archbishop emeritus Henry Luke Orombi and the UCU Council chairperson Prof Alfred Olwa.

Rev Julius made the revelation during the pastoral visit of the university chancellor His Grace Dr.Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu to the university on Tuesday (July 09, 2024).

Tabi said the fund will significantly advance the project of the construction of the ICT complex which will become the main academic building of the university once completed.

"I am glad to publicly announce that the president has generously pledged a donation of sh2 billion towards the project. We are immensely grateful, as these funds will significantly advance the project," said Rev. Tabi.

Last year, the 50-year master plan for UCU Arua Campus encompasses the landmark project of the Bishop Orombi ICT Complex was launched by the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda Dr. Kaziimba, also the university chancellor.

At the same event, the Vice chancellor UCU, Professor Aaron Mushengyezi, who accompanied Archbishop Kaziimba in his pastoral visit, made a pledge of Ugx 20 million on behalf of the University's main campus Mukono towards the construction of ICT Complex.

"As UCU, they want to be a distinguished university which is why they recently launched a campus transformation plan. The greatness of a campus lies not only in the excellence and quality of its services but also in the beauty of its infrastructure." Prof. Mushengyezi remarked.

Archbishop Kaziimba commended the campus population for their dedication and hard work and appreciated the President for the pledge he made towards the construction of the multi-billion Bishop Orombi ICT Complex and promised to follow up on the offer.

To have the project of the ICT complex succeed, the directorate of research, partnership, and innovation has organised a fundraiser dinner on August 9, 2024, in Kampala.
