A total of 717 students are set to graduate from Valley University of Science and Technology (VUST) during its sixth graduation ceremony scheduled for January 9, 2026, at the university campus in Bwatogo ward, Central division, Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality.
Of the graduands, 435 are female while 282 are male, reflecting a continued rise in the number of women completing higher education in the country.
Graduates will receive awards at various levels, including 15 postgraduate diplomas, 232 bachelor’s degrees, 462 diplomas and two certificates, with diploma students forming the largest group.
According to the graduation programme, 432 females and 280 males will graduate across the different disciplines, underscoring strong female participation in most courses offered at the institution.
The university will also recognise outstanding academic performers from its faculties. Amon Nkwasibwe from the Faculty of Business and Management Science emerged as the overall best student after earning a first-class degree in Bachelor of Public Administration with a CGPA of 4.75.
Other top performers include Maria Nsiimenta from the Faculty of Science, Technology and Innovations, who attained a first-class degree in Bachelor of Science in Information Technology with a CGPA of 4.53, and Mariat Kanyehamye from the Faculty of Education, who obtained a CGPA of 4.61 in Diploma in Primary Education.
Moses Twinamatsiko from the Directorate of Postgraduate Studies and Research also excelled, earning a first-class Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Management Science and Leadership with a CGPA of 4.46.
Valley University of Science and Technology was founded in 2016 by former Bushenyi district chairperson William Mukaira to expand access to higher education in the greater Bushenyi region.
The university received its charter from President Yoweri Museveni in 2025, confirming its status as a fully recognised institution of higher learning.
University officials say the graduation ceremony will celebrate the institution’s growth, academic excellence and commitment to producing skilled graduates to support Uganda’s national development.
