KAMPALA - The team from International University of East Africa (IUEA) are sharpening their brains to step into the spotlight and unleash their hidden talents at the upcoming Ultimate University Quiz organised by Vision Group.

During the orientation session at the university premises in Kampala, on September 23, 2025, students spoke with excitement and confidence, knowing this could be their moment to shine far beyond the lecture halls.

“It’s amazing how this quiz can help you expose hidden talents. I’m excited to show my potential while learning so much from the platform,” she said.

The competition, which targets to attract over 20 chartered universities across the country, is being sponsored by the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) and the major sponsor, the Bank of Uganda (BOU).

The quiz is a platform that challenges students to think beyond the classroom and prepare for a highly competitive job market.

Far from being just a contest, the competition is now woven into universities' broader academic culture of reinforcing real-world relevance, interdisciplinary knowledge, and cognitive sharpness among students.

Peter Collins Kainerugaba, who is making his debut in the quiz, was especially inspired by past seasons.

“This is my first time, and after watching the previous seasons, I felt encouraged. I’m eager to showcase my knowledge and use this opportunity to shape my future,” he shared.

“We continuously adopt different teaching methodologies, and the quiz is one of them. Our curriculum is tailored to societal needs, many of which this quiz addresses. It’s a huge opportunity to prove that we are a technology-focused university on this platform from Vision Group,” she stated.

Head of Marketing John Jacob believes the quiz offers more than bragging rights.

“This competition by New Vision is not just exciting; it activates young minds across institutions. The greatest thing you can do is ask a question which gets people thinking. That’s the essence of the quiz,” he noted.

He added that education is beyond the classroom, and what sets students apart is the brand they build through platforms like this.

Max Adii, Project Lead from New Vision, said this season is shaping students to think fast across disciplines.

“The quiz builds aptitude and sharpens mental capacity. In today’s world, it’s no longer just about what’s taught in lectures. We need general knowledge on banking, finance, science, tech, climate, current affairs, and more. That’s what this quiz delivers,” he elaborated.

As IUEA joins the list of elite universities battling for the top spot, one thing is clear. The competition won’t just crown a winner; it will reveal the thinkers, innovators, and leaders of tomorrow.
