The MTN counter moved sh1.24b ($307,754) from 2.76 million shares, more than any other stock during the trading week at the Uganda Securities Exchange (USE), according to market data from Crested Capital.

Total market turnover dropped to sh1.96b ($484,539) from sh2.83b ($238,207) the previous week. Volumes exchanged fell to 13.35 million shares from 26.29 million shares.

Stanbic Holdings traded sh496.71m ($122,796) from 4.43 million shares. Bank of Baroda dealt sh107.69m ($26,622) from 1.13 million shares, and NIC Holdings moved sh105.01m ($25,960) from 5 million shares.

Airtel Uganda dealt sh5.48m ($1,354) from 28,206 shares. New Vision traded sh206,625 ($51) from 1,425 shares, and Umeme Limited traded sh6,300 from 100 shares.

NIC recorded the highest price growth of the week, up 8.81% to close at sh21. Bank of Baroda followed with a 6.58% jump to sh97.84. Airtel Uganda added 3.17% to sh195, MTN Uganda grew 1.49% to sh455, and Stanbic rose 0.89% to sh113. Umeme and New Vision were unchanged at sh63 and sh145.

On the cross-listed counters, Centum Investments lost 0.49% to sh560.49. East African Breweries gained 3.37% to sh8,977.19. Equity Group Holdings added 6.12% to sh3,278.63.

Jubilee Holdings lost 2.65% to sh12,333.88. Kenya Airways gained 5.38% to sh180.48, KCB Group gained 5.40% to sh2,880.51, and Nation Media Group added 3.16% to sh498.04.

The USE All Share Index rose 1.98% to 2,609.12. The local companies index gained 1.63% to 235.93.
