NIC shares climb 1.5% in Thursday’s session

NIC Holdings shares climbed by 1.58% at the Uganda Securities Exchange on Thursday, closing at sh19.3 per share.

The counter opened at sh19 and drew the session’s clearest buying interest, with 100,000 shares changing hands at sh19.30 for a turnover of sh1.93m. Unfilled bids of 88,800 shares sat at sh19.40, above the close.

Five counters recorded deals according to trading data from Crested Capital. Stanbic Holdings carried almost all of the activity, trading 1,549,700 shares at sh110.01 for about sh170.48m.

The stock eased slightly by 0.01%, to finish at sh110.01. Heavy interest remained on both sides of the book, with bids of about 3.02 million shares at sh107 and offers of 744,000 shares at sh112.

MTN Uganda gained 0.22%, to sh447 on 1,400 shares worth sh625,800. Airtel Uganda was unchanged at sh189, with 9,000 shares traded for sh1.7m. Bank of Baroda also closed flat, at sh90.50, after 20,000 shares changed hands.

The rest of the board was idle. British American Tobacco held at sh11,500, dfcu at sh337, New Vision at sh145, Quality Chemical Industries at sh161.88, Uganda Clays at sh8.40 and Umeme at sh63, all with no deals.
