Iran war pushes electricity tariffs up, domestic consumers more affected
ERA increased electricity tariffs across all consumer categories, marking the first quarterly adjustment since the second quarter of last year, when Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited took over electricity distribution from Umeme Ltd.
Under the new tariffs announced by the ERA chief executive officer, Eng. Ziria Tibalwa Waako, domestic consumers will pay sh779 per unit of electricity between July and September, up from sh756.2 charged between April and June, representing an increase of sh23.2 per unit.
