Uganda should build AI talent, attract AI investment and accelerate AI adoption across the economy. At the same time, Uganda must position itself as an attractive destination for global AI investment.

We should establish clear AI policies, regulatory sandboxes, tax incentives for AI companies, support for innovation hubs and easier pathways for international technology firms, research institutions and venture capital investors to establish operations in Uganda. Countries that attract AI investment today will create the jobs, industries, and innovations of tomorrow.

The Government should also strengthen partnerships with global technology leaders, universities and development partners that have already built successful AI ecosystems.

Uganda does not need to start from scratch. We can learn from those who have gone ahead while developing solutions tailored to our local realities. The greatest opportunity for Uganda is that AI is lowering the cost of innovation.

A young person with the right skills can now build what previously required large teams and significant capital. If we invest deliberately in talent, infrastructure and global partnerships, Uganda can become a regional AI leader while creating meaningful opportunities for its young population.
